Amtrak’s TEXAS EAGLE will test your endurance. It’s Amtrak’s longest train trip over four days, three nights, and seven states!

Hi Jeb! I’ve traveled Amtrak from Ohio to LA a number of times on the Cardinal and SW Chief. You have inspired me (I’m 73 years old) to plan an epic Amtrak adventure this coming October. I will leave from Chicago to travel to Los Angeles on the Texas Eagle. When I leave LA after my visit I will travel to Chicago on the SW Chief, to Washington, DC, on the Capital Limited and then on to Kissimmee, FL, on the Silver Star! All my travel will be in a Roomette. I do love train travel and consider this a once in a lifetime adventure! Keep up the good work! Thanks!
5, Someday…
The Lakeshore Limited, The Texas Eagle and the Sunset Limited combined to create the only Amtrak trip we will never do again.
The San Antonio layovers at the wrong time of day made for a long slow passage of time.
When we got to Arizona our senior citizen butts were as sore as if we had been sitting on Abe Lincoln autographed wooden seats.
This route seemed as if someone looked at the map and decided there was too much empty space so trains were shoe-horned around and declared to be the perfect solution.
Most of our Amtrak trips, including some very long delays on the Empire Builder, the California Zephyr and the Cardinal have been wonderful rides.
Hopefully the pending new equipment makes many improvements a reality but getting the full intent of the “Passenger Rail Act” implemented will take more than speeches from the floor of Congress.
Enjoyed watching this journey”¦.I’ve never visited TX
I’ve watched all of your Amtrak videos. You seem to really enjoy Amtrak. I’ve also read many, many comments that are very damning to Amtrak.. Are they riding in the wrong class of travel? Thanks!!!
I think sometimes folks tend to forget that Amtrak is, at the end of the day, public transportation. It’s important to moderate expectations when traveling!
Last year we took a trip from McGregor , Tx to Alpine, Tx was a fun trip of just over a day. Had a roomette. Now planning a trip to New Iberia, La.. It is fun for me as I am about 90 and can’t do much walking. Train travel is ideal for me. when get there jus rent a car and look. I enjoy watching your videos.
